Paramount Opens “World War Z” Xmas 2012

Paramount Pictures have locked down a December 21st 2012 release date for “World War Z”, the Brad Pitt-led film adaptation of Max Brooks’ best-selling darkly comic satire about a zombie apocalypse and its political ramifications.

Many have been wondering how the studio would adapt the book which is essentially an anthology of different people’s recollections about events of the war connected by the framing device of a UN researcher interviewing subjects.

The studio has released an official synopsis which reveals a very different approach has been settled on – “The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.”

It’s likely several key stories of various characters from the book will be amalgamated into the story of Pitt’s character.
