Producers Vying To Adapt “Fifty Shades”

There are casting searches, there are director searches, but rarely it seems is there a high profile search for a producer. In the case of the film adaptation of E.L. James’ “Fifty Shades of Grey” though, there have been numerous producers under consideration with a decision expected shortly says Variety.

On the list are Michael De Luca; Ron Howard and Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment; Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force; Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Feature Films; and Scott Stuber of Bluegrass Films.

Author James and lit agent Val Hoskins have met with dozens of producers, though one thing that may prove a sticking point is that they want said producers to commit to the project full-time.

Rumors have also surfaced that Focus head and frequent Ang Lee collaborator James Schamus may end up writing the script himself. James has final approval over the filmmakers and talent involved so whomever is picked it will have to be with her blessing.
