Rhys Meyers Is Dracula In NBC TV Series

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors,” “Match Point”) is set to play Dracula in a ten-episode NBC show which has been ordered straight-to-series reports Deadline.

NBC and U.K.’s Sky Living are co-producing the series which is set in 1890’s London. A freshly arrived Dracula poses as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to the Victorian-era society.

In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

Tony Krantz, Colin Callender, Gareth Neame and Anne Mensah will executive produce. The project is the third direct-to-series order by NBC lately following the Lecter prequel “Hannibal” and the pirate drama “Crossbones”.
