Romanek Wanted For New “Cinderella” Take

Disney Pictures is circling Mark Romanek (“Never Let Me Go,” “One Hour Photo”) as the potential director of a new adaptation of fantasy classic “Cinderella” says Deadline.

“The Devil Wears Prada” scribe Aline Brosh McKenna sold the pitch to Disney last year which re-imagines the tale and sets up the new context of a “prince set for a politically arranged marriage, until the evil plan is threatened when the prince meets Cinderella.”

Simon Kinberg is producing and the project is moving with speed at the studio where it is a priority.
