Ross Back In “Hunger” Sequel Talk

They were on, then off, now they are back on again.

Just days after it was reported that talks had broken down and he was stepping out, now it looks like negotiations are set to continue this week with “The Hunger Games” director Gary Ross in regards to him returning to shoot the sequel “Catching Fire” says The Hollywood Reporter.

Ross, who is not signed to return for the second installment, has reportedly expressed concerns about an ambitious production schedule that would require shooting to begin in August. The script is still not done so all pre-production would have to be completed in just four months.

Throw in Jennifer Lawrence’s commitment to begin shooting the “X-Men: First Class” sequel in January, Ross’ desire to pursue other projects that he has in development, and the way other film franchises based on young adult literature like “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” often swap directors with each entry, and negotiations remain both delicate and far from a certain resolution.
