Rupert Grint Joins “CBGB”, “Countryman”

“Harry Potter” series star Rupert Grint is keeping busy in a post-Hogwarts world, lining up two new projects to become part of the cast of reports Variety.

The first is Fredrik Bond’s “The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman” in which Shia LaBeouf plays a young man who falls for a woman (Evan Rachel Wood) who belongs to a dangerous crime boss (Mads Mikkelsen). His role is unknown at this point, but filming on that project is currently underway in Romania.

The other is Randall Miller’s “CBGB” about the famous New York nightclub and its effects on the underground music scene in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Grint’s Potter co-star Alan Rickman leads the cast as club founder Hilly Kristal.

Grint will play Cheetah Chrome, lead guitarist of short-lived ‘70s punk band The Dead Boys.
