Robert Schwentke (“Red,” “Flightplan”) is attached to direct the likely English-language “The Poison Kitchen” at Constantin Film reports Variety.
The story traces the true story of the Muenchener Post, the Munich newspaper which waged a propaganda war for more than a decade against the burgeoning Nazi Party. After Hitler gained power in 1933, Nazi stormtroopers raided the paper, destroyed the offices and presses, and imprisoned the editorial staff.
Matthew Sand (“Ninja Assassin”) is penning the script and the plan is to opt for the tone of a thriller rather than a historical-political drama. Schwentke will work on the film once he wraps his commitments to the supernatural comedy “R.I.P.D.”.
