Sequel News: Mike, ID Forever, Captain

Magic Mike 2
With Steven Soderbergh otherwise occupied, Channing Tatum says he might be directing a sequel to “Magic Mike” himself. Also expect a change in tone.

“The goal is to make it more comedic than the first film. It’s a road movie where a bunch of strippers get back together. It’s more of a broad comedy” says Tatum. [Source: The Film Stage]

Independence Day 2 & 3
Roland Emmerich’s long in development sequels to “Independence Day” will be entitled “ID Forever – Part 1” and “ID Forever – Part 2” according to the filmmaker. Both will be post converted into 3D even though Emmerich remains a ‘3D skeptic.’ [Source: Bleeding Cool]

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Chris Evans has revealed that shooting on the anticipated “Captain America” sequel begins filming in March next year. This puts it on the same 13-month production timeline as the first film, with the project getting a April 4th 2014 release. [Source: Collider]
