Showtime Gives “Homeland” A Third Season

Perhaps the least surprising renewal news this year, Showtime has ordered a third season of its suspense drama series “Homeland” reports Deadline.

Sunday night’s episode averaged 1.75 million viewers for its 9 p.m. airing, the most-watched episode to date. The season 2 premiere has been seen by 5.7 million viewers across Showtime’s various platforms.

Throw in the recent Emmy award sweep and it looks like the show has a bright future for several years to come. Production on the third season will kick off in the Spring.
