Sony Moves Up “White House Down”

Sony Pictures has moved Roland Emmerich’s action thriller “White House Down” up by more than four months from November 1st 2013 to June 28th 2013.

Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Richard Jenkins and Joey King star in the film which deals with the White House being taken over by a paramilitary group. Tatum plays one of the Secret Service agents assigned to the U.S. President (Foxx).

The move echoes the battle earlier this year of Relativity and Universal who had rival “Snow White” projects vying for cinema space. In this case, Sony is trying to beat Antoine Fuqua’s currently filming “Olympus Has Fallen”.

That project has Gerard Butler as an ex-Secret Service agent trying to stop Korean terrorists who have taken over the White House and take the U.S. President (Aaron Eckhart) hostage. Ashley Judd, Angela Bassett, Cole Hauser, Radha Mitchell, Melissa Leo, Robert Forster and Rick Yune star.
