Cinemax has renewed its action series “Strike Back” for a ten-episode third season to air next year. Cinemax will not confirm which cast members will continue “due to plot spoilers in upcoming episodes of season two” says Deadline.
Originally airing as a six-part miniseries on Sky1 in the UK in 2010 starring Andrew Lincoln (“The Walking Dead”) and Richard Armitage (“The Hobbit”), Cinemax and HBO came onboard to produce the project’s second season.
With both its leads having departed, they were replaced with new characters and the re-imagined second season became the “first season” of the Cinemax series which went to air last year.
That season pulled in 289,000 average viewers per episode on Cinemax, while this year’s second season premiere drew 390,000 viewers. It is scheduled to finish its run on October 12th.
