Double Emmy-winning “Game Change” and “The Butler” scribe Danny Strong has been hired to pen the scripts for the two-film adaptation of “Mockingjay”, the final chapter in “The Hunger Games” franchise at Lionsgate.
The news comes from Variety who added that the studio had no comment. The two films are scheduled for a November 21st 2014 and November 20th 2015 release.
The first “The Hunger Games” film was adapted by author Suzanne Collins, that film’s director Gary Ross (“Seabiscuit,” “Pleasantville”), and scribe Billy Ray (“Shattered Glass,” “State of Play”).
The currently in production second film was adapted by Collins along with writers Michael Arndt (“Toy Story 3,” “Little Miss Sunshine”) and Simon Beaufoy (“Slumdog Millionaire,” “127 Hours”). That film hits cinemas next November.
