“Suspiria” Remake Officially Underway

Despite his recent flops like “Your Highness” and “The Sitter”, it looks as if filmmaker David Gordon Green has secured financing for his long-gestating remake of Dario Argento’s classic 1977 horror movie “Suspiria”.

Screen Daily reports that Crime Scene Pictures, who are also behind the upcoming “Gambit” remake, are set to finance the film and a September start-of-filming date has been set.

Green adapted the screenplay with Chris Gebert and this version follows an American exchange student in Europe who attends a school that fronts a sinister organisation.

Green previously said the film will stick closely to the surreal original – “It’s actually very faithful. I’m gonna put my spin on it, but in terms of a pitch, it’s going to remain quite faithful to [the original].” Indeed Green has already acquired the rights to Goblin’s classic score from the film.
