Extra-terrestrial heroes in a half shell?
Michael Bay spoke about Platinum Dunes’ plans for the new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie a few days ago at the 2012 Nickelodeon Upfront at the Lincoln Center in New York.
“When you see this movie, kids are going to believe that one day these turtles actually do exist…when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race, and they’re going to be tough, edgy, funny, and completely lovable” Bay told the crowd (via io9.
The key word there that has everyone scratching their heads is ‘alien’ – the turtles are mutant turtles, not aliens. The comment has already lead to a wildfire of editorials and counter opinions, not to mention intense social media debate.
Could Bay have misspoken? Quite possible, but we don’t know for sure yet.
