The 85th Annual Academy Award nominations have been announced with “Lincoln” and “Life of Pi” leading the pack with twelve and eleven nominations respectively.
Also faring well were “Les Miserables” and “Silver Linings Playbook” with eight; “Argo” with seven; “Amour,” “Django Unchained,” “Skyfall” and “Zero Dark Thirty” with fivel and “Anna Karenina” and “Beasts of the Southern Wild” with four.
There were some surprises. “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Holy Motors,” “Looper” and “Cloud Atlas” weren’t nominated in a single category; no directing nominations for Kathryn Bigelow, Ben Affleck, Paul Thomas Anderson or Quentin Tarantino;
