Charlize Theron and producer Basil Iwanyk are teaming for a film about recently slain war journalist Marie Colvin says The Hollywood Reporter.
Colvin was a well-known American war correspondent who covered conflicts in Kosovo, Chechnya, East Timor, Sri Lanka and beyond. She went through three divorces and post-traumatic stress disorder, and died in February while covering the civil war in Syria.
Iwanyk and Peter Lawson have optioned the film rights to Marie Brenner’s Vanity Fair article “Marie Colvin’s Private War” while Theron, Beth Kono and AJ Dix are in talks to join Iwanyk as producers
The project could also be an acting vehicle for Theron but she is not committed to star. Back in the late 90’s, one of Brenner’s articles was turned into Michael Mann’s highly acclaimed 1999 drama “The Insider”.
