“Thor 2” Closing In On “Thrones” Directors

Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan are reportedly both under consideration to take over the helm of the “Thor” sequel at Marvel Studios reports Heat Vision.

Patty Jenkins was previously attached as director until last Tuesday when she suddenly left due to “creative differences”.

Both Taylor and Minahan are regular directors of various HBO show episodes with both having worked on “Game of Thrones”.

Taylor has also helmed episodes of “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Sopranos” and AMC’s “Mad Men” while Minahan has directed episodes of “Deadwood,” “True Blood” and ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”.

Marvel is also locking down a new writer. Don Payne has already written a draft with the likes of John Collee (“Master and Commander”), Robert Rodat (“Saving Private Ryan”) and Roger Avary (“Pulp Fiction”) all on a shortlist to take over.

The “Thor” sequel is currently targeting a November 2013 release.
