Tommy Lee Jones Becomes An “Emperor”

Tommy Lee Jones is set to play the legendary General Douglas MacArthur in Peter Webber’s Japan-set political thriller epic “Emperor” at Fellers Film and Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment says The Hollywood Reporter.

Inspired by true events and set amidst the uncertainties of the days following the Japanese surrender at the end of WWII, Matthew Fox plays General Bonner Fellers – one of the leading Japanese experts of MacArthur who served as the de facto ruler of Japan.

Fellers is charged with reaching a decision of historical importance: should Emperor Hirohito be tried and hanged as a war criminal? The story also covers Fellers’ love affair with and search for a Japanese exchange student he met years before.

Gary Foster, Eugene Nomura and Russ Krasnoff are producing. Shooting kicks off later this month.
