Tucker, Firth In “Intouchables” Remake?

Chris Tucker (“The Fifth Element,” “The Silver Linings Playbook”) has confirmed that he’s had early discussions about the leading role in the English-language remake of mega French hit “The Intouchables” at The Weinstein Company.

Tucker says “I have been talking with them (producers) about doing it. I hope something will come out of it because I really like the movie and they are in the process of getting it together. So there’s a possibility that it might happen.”

The original film dealt with the friendship between a handicap millionaire (Francois Cluzet) and his street smart ex-con caretaker (Omar Sy). The movie is this year’s highest grossing foreign language film in North America.

At last report earlier this year, “Bridesmaids” helmer Paul Feig was in talks to direct with Colin Firth in talks to play the other co-lead.
