“War,” T5 Stick With Their ‘R’ Ratings

When McG makes a gritty action film like “Terminator Salvation” it gets a PG-13, when he tries to do a rom-com with some light action in it – it gets an R.

Fox’s “This Means War”, starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, has lost its appeal to the MPAA to have its R rating reduced to a PG-13 reports Reuters.

The board upheld the R-rating for the film which contains “some sexual content” in its story of two CIA operatives who become enemies when they find out they’re both dating the same woman.

Though nearly a thousand films are granted classification every year, less than dozen of those undergo the appeals process.

While Fox may not have been able to shed its PG-13, producer Megan Ellison is championing the fact that one of her upcoming projects will be R-rated – the in-development fifth “Terminator” film.

“We can’t really tell you guys anything about Terminator BUT it will be an R rated film as God and James Cameron intended” she confirmed on Twitter. The project itself is still very early in the process.
