Warners Plans A Hugh Hefner Biopic

Warner Bros. Pictures and producer Jerry Weintraub have taken over “Playboy”, a biopic about the magazine’s founder Hugh Hefner reports Deadline.

The project, originally set up at Universal and Imagine Entertainment, details how Hefner evolved from a puritanical upbringing to become the godfather of the sexual revolution and used the brand to champion civil rights and free speech.

The likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Hugh Jackman were mentioned as possible candidates to play Hef back when the project languished at Universal. With the move, all previously linked names to the project no longer apply.

While “Harry Potter” film series scribe Steve Kloves is being talked about as a potential screenwriter, Weintraub has reportedly denied the claim.
