Naomi Watts, James Frecheville, Xavier Samuel and Robin Wright have joined the cast of “The Grandmothers” for Gaumont and Mon Voisin says Screen Daily.
An adaptation of the 2003 novella by Nobel Prize-winner Doris Lessing, the story follows two childhood friends and neighbors who each fall in love with the other’s son, to the disgust of the boys’ wives.
French director Anne Fontaine (“Coco Before Chanel”) helms the English-language feature from a script by Christopher Hampton (“Atonement”). Shooting kicks off in Australia in February.
