Terrence Malick’s “To The Wonder” is set to make its debut this coming weekend at the Venice Film Festival, and its now been confirmed that several big names who worked on it have not made the final cut.
Deadline reports that appearances from Rachel Weisz, Michael Sheen, Amanda Peet and Barry Pepper have all been left on the cutting room floor.
The “Tree of Life” and “The Thin Red Line” director is famous for shooting heaps of footage and then “finding” his vision for the film in the editing room – which ultimately means certain actors can work days, weeks or ever months on a Malick film but only feature on screen for a few minutes (and in many cases not at all).
Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Olga Kurylenko and Javier Bardem have the four main roles in the film, everyone else who was cast however was in small bit parts and were thus expendable.
