12/01/2011 – MUSE – An exhibition of myths and mannequins

MUSE is a visual storytelling experience that will present a range of design disciplines. This collaborative project brings together a collection of rare vintage mannequins and forms utilizing old world display design techniques that reflect our dreams and fantasies.

In collaboration with show curator and designer Kevin Smith of Arm & a Leg, mannequins for hire, the young student designers have executed the visual identity and marketing strategy, constructed the physical environment of walls and platforms and created the detail of every unique installation.

The Design Formation program at Langara College merges the design disciplines of spatial formation and communica- tion design. This challenging area of design bridges interior, industrial and graphic design.
Students become familiar with a wide-ranging skill set that can be applied to everything from retail display, special event design and staging interiors, trade show and exhibit design as well as environmental graphic design. Through a nuanced understanding of all these disciplines, they have pushed their boundaries to execute this unique and truly inspirational show.

The exhibition runs from December 1 to the 15th daily from 10:00am to 7:00 pm, weekends from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is free, donations graciously accepted in support of the 2012 Design Formation Grad Show.
We welcome everyone to indulge their imaginations by joining us on this journey we call MUSE.
