Tim Bray, Internet Trailblazer will present “Hot Issues for Internet Thinkers” (Langara Meetup)

Join us for an evening with Tim Bray, internet trailblazer. Best known for co-founding Open Text Corporation and Antarctica Systems, Bray is a Canadian entrepreneur, with years of experience in software development.

Tim Bray graduated from the University of Guelph with a Computer Science degree in 1981. Since that time he’s worked for two computer companies, one telephone company, two of his own software startups, and now is at Google. One of those startups, Open Text, is now Canada’s largest software company. He’s helped create Internet standards, co-authored XML, published some open-source software, and has written over a million words on his blog at www.tbray.org.

The evening consists of a 45-minute talk by Bray where he will discuss “Hot Issues for Internet Thinkers”. This will be followed by a 30-minute interview by Continuing Studies Computer Technology Program Coordinator Raymond Chow. A Q&A with the audience will conclude the evening. Everyone welcome.

Register at Langara Continuing Studies registration or through the meetup website. Walk-ins are welcome, but space is limited.

After the event, members can head over to Roots Cafe (6502 Main Street) for beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and networking.
