15-year-old boy with Down syndrome found safe

A 15-year-old boy with Down syndrome has been found safe and sound after going missing from his Penticton home Saturday.

Evander Van De Sype is also deaf and mute.

RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says the boy was spotted by helicopter crews, sitting near a creek-bed.

“All’s well that ends well here.  And I’m very happy to report that he’s been found safe and sound.”

Van De Sype is being checked out by medical crews — and will be reunited with his family shortly.
