2003 Dave Basi memo raises more BC Rail questions

One of the two men convicted in the BC Rail case is confirming, an October 2003 memo leaked online through a local blog was written by him.

But, as Dave Basi told Simi Sara, there’s not much else he can say.

Basi says he can’t talk about the case because of the deal reached to write off the $ 6 million in legal fees paid for him and Bobby Virk.

But in the memo, the former BC Liberal aide claims Virk allegedly told him, then Deputy Premier Christy Clark probed Virk for details about the process involved in the BC Rail deal.

Basi also goes on to allege details Virk claims he shared with Clark and current Deputy Chief of staff Kim Haakstad, ended up being relayed  back to Virk from Erik Bornmann, who admits bribing Basi and Virk to get information about the BC Rail deal.

Premier Clark has always maintained she was ‘not’ sharing information with Bornmann.

But before many of the details about the controversy were raised in court Basi and Virk pleaded guilty, and their legal fees were written off.
