21 year old arrested and charged after allegedly attacking Skytrain rider

Transit Police say they’ve arrested a 21 year old man after he allegedly attacked a skytrain rider early Friday morning.

They say the attack happened at the Columbia Street Station–that a 25 year old Delta man got on the train with a friend after a concert.

A woman they had met on the train platform got on as well.

Police say a man went up to the victim, asked him about some CD’s and began punching him in the face and head, and then kneed him in the face and neck.

The woman hit the silent emergency alarm strip on the car.

The suspect and his companion jumped out of the train and fled up the stairs.

Kyle Alain-Boya was arrested while walking down the street a short time later.

He’s been charged with aggravated assault and will be in court on July 9th.

The second man got away, and his identity isn’t yet known.

Police say the victim was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital with a broken jaw, fractured teeth, cuts to his face, a black eye, and other bruising, and has had to undergo surgery.

Anyone with information should call the Transit Police Watch Commander at 604-515-8300.
