75-year-old woman struck and killed in Surrey

Surrey RCMP say a fatal collision between a car and a pedestrian Friday evening – was a “tragic accident.”
A 75-year-old woman was crossing 96th Avenue mid-block near 123rd Street around six o’clock.
RCMP Inspector Dan Splinter says that’s when she was hit.

“There were a couple of witnesses who saw it, they were behind the vehicle that struck the victim. They’re not alleging any unusual speed, apparently they were going with the flow of traffic. We’re not alleging any alcohol or drug use at this point, it’s just one of those very unfortunate situations that happens.”

The woman was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Splinter adds a full investigation has been started.
