Abbotsford police officers and firefighters to help rebuild elderly couple’s burned home

Police officers and firefighters in Abbotsford are stepping forward to help rebuild the home of an elderly couple.

The Connors lost their house in a fire on Remembrance Day, and didn’t have insurance.

Constable Ian MacDonald with Abbotsford Police says it’s the natural reaction to help given their line of work.

“Some of the staff both at Fire and Rescue and with the Abbotsford Police Department have other skills that include painting and plumbing and electric work. We’re going to donate our labour into the construction of a new home for the Connor family.”

MacDonald adds the two emergency services will also manage incoming donations for the family in the wake of some people promising to help…with strings attached.
