Accused child trafficker to apply for bail

A Vancouver man facing close to 40 charges linked to the sex trafficking of teenage girls will be back in court Tuesday to re-apply for bail.

His bail was revoked earlier this month.

Reza Moazami has been behind bars since August 9 when he was picked up for violating his conditions of release… and more charges were laid against him.

The 28-year old is accused of forcing at least 11 girls to work as prostitutes in Metro Vancouver.

His bail was breached when he allegedly tried to contact one of the victims… who were all between 14 and 19 years old when they were recruited.

Moazami is the first person in this province to be charged with trafficking minors.

His initial arrest was in October at a west side brothel… and he’s now facing a total of 36 charges.

If convicted, he could spend up to five years in prison.
