Accused in sled-dog slaughter pleads guilty

The man accused of killing more than 50 sled dogs in Whistler two years ago has pleaded guilty.

As expected, Robert Fawcett has admitted to the charge of causing unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal in provincial court.

The slaughter came to light after Fawcett made a claim to WorkSafe BC that he suffered from post-traumatic stress from killing the dogs.

He was supposed to be tried in Pemberton, but the hearing was moved to North Vancouver over security concerns.

He’ll be sentenced Nov. 22 after undergoing a psychological evaluation.
