Accused may seek retribution

A young man who is off the hook for sex assault charges after Crown Counsel stayed proceedings, may lawyer up to seek damages.

Criminal lawyer Tony Sterka says his client Colton McMorris has had his life ruined after Mounties held a high profile press conference, “Saying that there was a gang rape, that is gone. And they said things like, ‘Hey, I wouldn’t be standing here at this press conference unless it happened’ and, ‘Make no mistake, it was a gang rape,’ that is all gone. You should ask those people why they said that.”

Sterka says the affects of that press conference will continue if anyone, including potential employers, decide to Google his name.

He says the stay in Court proves McMorris is innocent in the case where a young girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at a Pitt Meadows rave.
