Accused smuggler to remain on bail

A B.C. man accused of playing a key role in a cross-border drug smuggling operation will remain on bail ahead of his extradition hearing in December.
Despite an appeal from the Attorney General of Canada, Sean William Doak will remain on bail after the B.C. Court of Appeal upheld the B.C. Supreme Court’s May ruling.
Doak is accused of smuggling large amounts of marijuana and ecstasy into the United States in exchange for cocaine, which was then allegedly brought back into Canada.
The allegations describe an elaborate multi-million-dollar scheme in which Doak and a number of others transported the drugs by helicopter, often using code words and human couriers.
Under his bail conditions, Doak’s parents have put up a $ 200,000 dollar bond, and he is under a seven-days-a-week curfew, in addition to surrendering his passport.
