After long wait, cop gets day in Court

An Abbotsford Police officer accused of using excessive force during an arrest will have his day in court Thursday.

Constable Adam Page is charged with assault, after the arrest of a shoplifter one night in September of 2009.

Officers were called to a store in the 327-hundred block South Fraser Way. They arrested a 37-year-old man who had been detained.

Police say one of the officers ‘applied force’ to the man as he was being taken from the store’s security office.

The incident came to light the next spring, in April of 2010.

Page, a six-year member with the APD, has been on administrative duties ever since.
