The independant MLA for Cariboo North has some interesting suggestions on how to solve the constant impasse between teachers and the government of the day.
Bob Simpson says the government should withdraw Bill 22 but keep the cooling off period and then appoint an industrial inquiry commission.
Simpson says it is also time to bring in binding arbitration to pre-empt the option of legislation used by so many BC governments.
He said “They wil push they will poke they will get the BCTF to act out gives them the excuse to legislate that doesn’t matter of they are NDP, Social Credit, BC Conservative, or BC Liberal that is what has to end take that hammer of legislation away make binding arbitration the final solution.”
Simpson says the government should restore the industrial school tax generating $ 230 million in revenue.
He said “So if the government can come with additional revenue I think it meets the spirit of net zero but I still think the BCTF and BCPSEA have work to do and I would compell them both to come to the bargaining table with their recomendations for where there are cost savings in the system.”
Simpson says both sides share a lot of blame for the contract impasse.
