Asbestos removal contractor will serve two months in jail

Arthur Moore will be behind bars for two months for exposing teenage workers to Asbestos, despite a
court injunction. President of the Building Trades Union, Lee Loftus, says the Crown should proceed with criminal charges.

“We are talking fraud, we are talking the use of vulnerable workers that come out of treatment centers and rehab centres,
we are talking exposure to teenagers.”

Loftus says Moore hired the vulnerable youth without providing them proper training or safety equipment. The lawyer representing the Workers Compensation Board wanted Moore put in jail for to six months to a year. Loftus adds 50 workers die every year from Asbestos exposure.
