The provincial government will finally call two by-elections in Chilliwack-Hope and Port Moody-Coquitlam on Thursday.
An area MLA says the wait hasn’t been a big deal.
Liberal John Les says constituents in Chilliwack-Hope, the riding next to his, aren’t focused on the wait for a voting day, unlike the media.
“You know, as I talk to people, they’re not particularly chomping at the bit. They know that there is a legally defined timeframe for a by-election to be called. Certainly, people are starting to develop a bit of an interest now that the candidates have been identified. People will start getting more engaged as the by-election campaign wears on.”
Les admits the Liberals will have to work hard to win one or both seats back.
By calling the by-elections tomorrow, the premier will set to voting day for April 19.
