B.C. has become the first province to publish an annual report on work being done to cut red tape.
Numbers released today show targets have been exceeded.
The government is trying to minimize time and money spent by businesses when accessing services and meeting regulatory requirements.
When the Regulatory Reporting Act became law in November, the government promised to deliver annual reports on progress made no later than June.
Finance Minister Kevin Falcon says B.C. has reduced requirements by more than 40 per cent since the Liberals took office in 2001. The target was set at 33 per cent.
Back then, the province had more than 360,000 regulations. That number has now dropped to 206,000.
