Bag found at skytrain station not dangerous

It was a false alarm.

A suspicious item found by a station attendant at the Main Street skytrain station is not dangerous.

Transit Police spokesperson Anne Drennan says the attendant spotted the item on the guideway.

“Our officers went out to take a look and saw a handbag with a wrist watch attached to the outside of the handbag.  When they took a closer look, they felt that this was quite likely not an explosive device, examined it, and found that in fact it is just a handbag with a wrist watch attached to it.”

Drennan says no one has come forward to claim the bag.

She says it was found during a sweep of the line.

Station attendants along with Transit Security and Transit Police have been doing regular sweeps since an explosive device was found along the skytrain line in Surrey Friday.
