It looks like Liberal MLA Bill Barisoff will not run again in the next election.
The Penticton representative has told his local newspaper “the torch must be passed on to the next generation.”
Barisoff has served as Speaker of the House since 2005, and was first elected to the legislature in 1996, after serving as a school trustee in the Okanagan.
He was last in the news last month after B.C. auditor general released a scathing report on the house’s financial records.
Barisoff sits on a committee that manages the house’s books, and acknowledged the report’s findings needed to be addressed.
