BC Conservatives demanding Cummins resign are told to get in line or get out

It’s the problem that just won’t go away for the fledgling BC Conservatives…

More infighting is coming to light over the leadership of John Cummins — just weeks after the party voted against a leadership review.

And now, the options for dissidents are simple: join in — or get out.

It’s in response to a new petition of as many as 20 constituency association presidents demanding Cummins’ resignation.

Al Siebring is the party’s provincial board president.

He calls them a small group trying to make trouble.

“If they have any integrity, why would you stick around and try to fight this? Why not let us move on and you move on and do something else?”

The deadline to either quit — or get in line — is twelve-noon Wednesday.

Burnaby-North President Ariane Eckardt is among those who signed the petition.

“No! We’re not going to just wash our hands of this… we’re going to be there to fight.”

The party’s lone MLA — John van Dongen — resigned last month.
