BC Conservatives say Premier is wooing votes with Bollywood show

The leader of the BC Conservative Party is accusing the Premier of using the Times of India Awards show as a deliberate vote getting strategy.

John Cummins says Premier Christy Clark is looking to copy what happened in the last Ontario election.

“The Dalton McGuinty government using that as a springboard to garnering more votes out of the East Indian community. I think that is essentially what she is doing here she is hoping that the thrill of bringing these Bollywood stars to British Columbia will gain her some sympathetic support in the East Indian community.”

Cummins says the liberals are using the show to try and keep a handful of BC ridings won by slim majority last election.

He says BC is also losing economically by going with the times of india awards and not the ‘real’ Bollywood Oscars after the election.
