BC Conservatives would repeal carbon tax

The BC Conservatives have revealed how they would spend and save money if elected in May.

It starts with the repeal of the carbon tax.

The Conservatives say they will make good on their long time promise to repeal the carbon tax.

They’ll do it over four years, saving 300-million dollars each day.

They also say they do not plan to increase taxes or drastically cut spending, but rather pay for all this while implementing their “spending smarter” plan, which was released last week.

That plan would see, among other things, having MLA’s review spending in committees while in session, instead of focusing on Question Period, as well as the creation of a legislative budget officer.

That’s the basic picture but all this has the party pledging a balanced budget for each of the next five years with a modest surplus, if elected.

The NDP is not expected to release its platform until after the current session of the legislature ends later this month.
