BC Hydro non-current line falls on cars, shopping centre and Fraser River in New West

A BC Hydro line came down in New Westminster across Stewardson Way, a Queensborough Shopping Centre, onto some cars and into the Fraser River Sunday morning.

Spokesperson Simi Heer says they’re not sure why it fell down, or whether it caused any damage to cars.

“Crews were able to respond quite quickly and keep the public away even though it was a non current line.”

The line did hit several other wires, causing a small outage, but everything was back to normal by Sunday afternoon.
