BC Liberals launch campaign for voters’ input ahead of 2013 election

Premier Christy Clark and the BC Liberal Party have launched what they call an unprecedented campaign to gather input from all British Columbians on policies to take into next year’s election.

Clark has posted a seven-minute video on the party’s website soliciting ideas on everything from public sector wages to senate reform, education and a name change for the party.

“Many people have also talked with me about the potential benefits of changing the name of the BC Liberals,” Clark says in the video. “This isn’t about changing our principles, but about making sure that everyone can feel at home in our coalition. I’m open to this idea.”

And Clark says all British Columbians regardless of their political stripe will be able to join an open discussion on policies at the first day of the Liberal convention in October.
