The BC Teacher’s Federation and the BC Public School Employers Association are facing off at the labour relations board over report cards.
the BCPSEA has brought an application to the labour relations board seeking to force teachers to complete term one and two report cards immediately, saying teachers can’t refuse to write them, just as postal workers can’t refuse to deliver mail that piled up during a strike.
For its part, the BCTF says the province can’t go back in time and revive time-sensitive activities that have expired.
Union lawyer Carmela Allevato says the fight over report cards isn’t about kids, it’s about power and politics, and if teachers are forced to do term one and two reports, they should be compensated extra for it.
