B.C. teachers have drawn up a plan to fight the government’s back-to-work legislation and will unveil the details at 1 p.m.
The B.C. Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) is calling it a “plan of action in resistance to Bill 22”, which bans more strikes under the threat of heavy fines and appoints a mediator to work out a new contract for teachers.
Union President Susan Lambert calls the bill the most punitive education legislation the B.C. Liberals have ever brought in, and says teachers will work in a variety of ways to resist it.
This could range from an illegal strike that could trigger fines against the union of $ 1 million a day to teachers pulling out of extracurricular activities.
