BC’s Education minister sees new hope after the Labour Relations Board ruled on the jurisdiction issue over a government appointed mediator.
George Abbott says his hope is the mediation process can continue now that the Labour Board has ruled, removing Charles Jago is matter for the courts.
Abbott said “As the LRB put it in dismissing the recent application by the BCTF to have Dr. Jago dismissed the LRB noted that Dr. Jago is mediator he is not an arbitrator he can only work to bring the parties together and that is what I hope will happen.”
Abbott says what really needs to happen is a turning of the corner with the relationship between the BCTF, the government, and BCPSEA.
The fight may not be over to remove Jago though, as the BC Teachers Federation says they will likely now take the matter to the courts.
