BC’s jobless rate dipped to 6.6 per cent in June, compared to 7.4 per cent the month before.
This after 3,500 people found work, and a staggering 18,000 people left the labour market.
Statistics Canada analyst Vincent Ferrao says there are many reasons people stop looking for work.
“Maybe it’s not the right time to look for work, they might take a breather… a pause, and resume their job hunt later on. Some might want to take some summer courses, some people retire.”
The year over year picture looks pretty good for BC.
While 40,000 people entered the job market in the past 12 months, another 53,000 found work.
